These materials showed extraordinary properties such as monodisperse pore size distribution, large surface areas and pore volumes. The main focus of this thesis has been on synthesis and functionalisation of spherical mesostructured silica particulate affect the pore size, pore arrangement, and particle diameter has not yet been clarified. In this study, it has been clearly confirmed how trialkyl-benzenes play a multifunctional role in the pore size, particle diameter, and morphology of colloidal mesostructured and mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMSS and CMPS, respecti- Mesoporous silica materials such as MCM-41, SBA- 15 and HMS with high porosity (pore size of up to 100 Å) have been widely studied as catalyst supports for incur- poration of sulphated metal oxides [5,6], platinum nano- particles and propyl sulfonic acid [8-10].
